Gift Shop Website Design

Case study: a website for Doon The Watter, a gift shop in Dunoon with a Scottish twist, built around the shop, its story and how to find it.

Doon The Watter — Gift Shop Website

Doon The Watter is a gift shop on Argyll Street in Dunoon, in the restored former Clydesdale Bank building. It began as a festive pop-up in 2015 and now sells gifts and homeware with a Scottish theme, locally made crafts and one-of-a-kind finds. A shop like this runs on character, so the site needed to feel like the place itself - cheerful and local - and make it easy for residents and visitors alike to find their way to the door.

What We Built

  • A design with the shop's personality - a seaside palette, scalloped edges and the shop's paddle steamer logo front and centre, so the site is recognisably Doon The Watter from the first screen.
  • The story of the shop - its beginnings as a pop-up, the old bank building and what's on the shelves, told on the homepage.
  • Easy to find - the address at the top of the page, with an embedded Google Map and directions for visitors who don't know Dunoon.
  • Easy to ask - tap-to-call and email in the header, and a "Looking for something special?" prompt inviting questions about items, orders and gift ideas.
  • Linked to Facebook - a direct route to the shop's Facebook page for the latest updates.
