Bookshop Website Design
Case study: an online bookshop for Bryce House Books, an independent Scottish publisher, with genre browsing, catalogue search and an online basket.
Bryce House Books — Independent Publisher and Online Bookshop
Bryce House Books is a small independent publisher and online bookseller run by Scottish author Catherine S. Bryce, based in Inverkip. It publishes atmospheric ghost tales, Victorian Gothic mysteries and historical fiction alongside other new and second-hand titles. The site has two jobs: to give the author's own work an independent home, and to be a proper bookshop that can grow as more titles are added.
What We Built
- A complete online shop - book pages, a basket and quantity selection, so a reader can go from browsing to buying without leaving the site.
- Browsing the way readers think - categories for crime and mystery, historical and Gothic fiction, non-fiction, Scottish interest, children's books, rare and second-hand titles, and a sale section.
- Search and filters - catalogue search in the header, with filters for price and date added, an in-stock option and a choice of sort orders.
- New titles up front - the latest books on the homepage, directly below the main "Browse the books" button.
- Customer reviews built in - each book page has a reviews section ready for readers who have bought it.
